Changes in population from migration and immigration:
Population growth from net migration totalled 24,452
people in the third quarter of 2008. This is little changed from the
same quarter the previous year, down just 1.1 per cent. While fewer
people left the province for elsewhere in Canada in the third quarter,
this was offset by a small decline in international immigration compared
to gains recorded in the third quarter of 2007.
Relocations within the province: According to the most recent annual
data, about425,000 people moved from one place to another within the
province. York, Halton, Peel and Durham regional municipalities
benefited most from movement within the province, with most of that
migration coming from Toronto.
